About the show |
The show
is about the life of film critic Jay
Sherman. He's known for his sarcastic crushing remarks of the pathetic
movies he has to review. His response to most of
these films is one of his catch phrases "It stinks". Other main characters of the show are Jay's 11-year-old son, Marty, Jay's adopted parents, Eleanor and Franklin Sherman, Jay's sister, Margo, his make-up artist, Doris, Vlada who owns the restaurant Jay attends, Jay's boss, Duke Phillips and his ex-wife, Ardith. The show featured movie parodies and many of them were featured on Jay's show Coming Attractions. |
The Critic was cancelled after only two seasons but in the early 2000's, the show creators produced ten short internet episodes. Apart from Jay, Vlada is the only character from the original run of the show to make an appearance; other characters were introduced. All the internet episodes were included as a bonus on the complete series DVD. The Critic falls into the same category as The Simpsons and Family Guy. A very witty show with great scripts, definately worth watching. |
